Just Back From The Wellness Experience by Organic Spa Media

November 24, 2020

Last month, our client Organic Spa Media, hosted its first annual virtual summit, The Wellness Experience, featuring a roster of top industry experts and interactive live-streaming experiences. Developed in partnership with prominent virtual events platform 6Connex, the two-day event was held on October 20-21, 2020 and featured wellness content from leading international authorities.

The Experience Room offered interactive live and pre-recorded guided experiences such as yoga with Ashley Kohler of Kohler Waters Spa, meditation by Rosewood Mayakoba and Kamalaya Koh Samui, a range of active options presented by FORME Life, a deeply inspirational mental wellness presentation by Matthew Holman, nutritional tips and cooking demonstration from Jolene Hart, aromatherapy from Functional Botanicals, an interactive sustainable fashion show by Marci Zaroff of YESAND, and so much more. These interactive experiences allow attendees to incorporate positive wellbeing into all aspects of life.

The Wellness Education panel topics included “The Reality of Travel Now,” “The Future of Sustainability in the Shadow of a Pandemic,” “News on CBD,” and “The New Escapism,” among other hot topics. Panelists engaged in lively discussions and provided industry updates and expert intelligence ranging from top physicians and practitioners, such as Dr. Elizabeth Bradley of Cleveland Clinic, to innovative wellness brand leaders including Anna Bjustram of Six Senses, Nikki Miller of Kohler Spas discussing the importance of dry brushing, former Surface editor-in-chief Martine Bury speaking with a panel of five others on the importance of cultural wellness, and key travel leaders from the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s Steve Johnson-Steveson, The Lodge at Woodloch’s Brooke Jennings and a lively discussion on the importance of giving back through travel. Along with many more engaging topics, The Wellness Education Room is a must-visit while the recordings are live for the next two weeks.

Top-line Takeaways:

  • Health Protocols & Certifications Are Here to Stay: Cleaning practices are not going anywhere in the hospitality space. Consumers are educating themselves on labels, certifications and choosing travel based on these factors.
  • Hold Onto Your Bucket List: The travel industry has continued to be resilient and push through many obstacles and it will be back as consumers want something to look forward to and motivate them to get out of the house. Embrace bucket list trips instead of leaving them on a list for years and years; this is the time to plan and prioritize.
  • Travel Looks Different: While traveling now is a varied topic, there is a way to do it safely and responsibly, which can help not only our mental health but also the economy.
  • Reimagine Hotel Spaces: Take the time to reimagine spaces at hotels and in destinations, especially in meeting and conference rooms. Could the boardroom be a spa sanctuary? What about a unique alternative dining location?
  • Travel & Wellness Go Hand and Hand: With most of us stuck at home, our daily rituals are shifted and we need an outlet to detox, so it's important to make sure we're getting that outlet in some way such as traveling to a close destination, working out, taking walks, staycations, and even exploring your own backyard. Travel is so important for growth as humans, and once travel is fully back, we should not wait to jump on the plane or the car and experience those connections and destinations that have been calling us.
  • Fitness Matters: People are taking vacations based on the fitness opportunities they will have. This ranges from surfing, a top-notch hotel gym, hiking trails right outside the hotel, and more. Individuals are also looking for intimate reboot retreats and wellness getaways, ranging from 5-10 people.
