In 2024, Andaz Costa Rica Resort at Peninsula Papagayo and Blue Zones teamed up to host the first official Blue Zones wellness retreat. On the heels of the internationally renowned Netflix documentary “Live to 100: Secrets of the Blue Zones,” the first-of-its-kind retreat explored wellness and lifestyle habits practiced by Blue Zones inhabitants, where individuals live well into their 100s. Located near an official Blue Zone in Costa Rica, Andaz was the perfect setting for this retreat. That same year, Costa Rica was named Travel + Leisure’s destination of the year. It felt like the perfect storm – we had the destination, the wellness trend and the news. Now all we needed was the right person to tell the story.

To help amplify awareness and bookings for the retreat and resort, LDPR strategically distributed the news and identified top tier media to experience the program, including a journalist who had recently battled cancer – the perfect candidate to experience the life-changing retreat. The program resulted in an inspiring feature story on Condé Nast Traveler digital (US and UK) and a feature spread in the special March wellness issue of Conde Nast Traveler magazine, reaching millions of readers.
